My oldest sister visits in April, 2003
Sr. Mary Lou visited Barb & me in April...
a very nice visit that allowed us to show her some of the scenic areas of the Pacific Northwest.

The Johnston Observatory is the closest to Mt. St. Helens, which blew up in 1980
The north side literally blew out, fortunately, Portland is in the south side and was protected from the lateral blast.
Most of the devastation is cleaned up, but some remnants still show the blast effects.
Sistie demonstrates Margaretta are one of the drinks of choice at our home.
Our living room is comfortable and provides for relaxing viewing of DVDs, of which Sistie enjoyed both first 'Lord of the Rings' features.
This time of Spring provides a plethora of flowering shrubs and trees in our back yard.
We visited the World Forestry Center which showed the history, nature and uses of wood.
The Oregon Museum of Science & Industry had a number of Earth Sciences displays, including this one of native Oregonian creatures.
Shopping at the local Costco allowed for a brief snack, perhaps not a gourmet snack, however.
The OMSI boat testing area allowed trial running of paddle boats. Sistie's kept going backwards.
On the outside of OMSI, Sistie passed on the JetBoat river excursion, which is probably best this early in the year.
Barb & Sistie preparing a meal at home. Yum.
Outside the OMSI, we took a tour of a 1960s submarine, the last of the non-nuclear type.
Sitting at the engineer's controls on the sub, Sistie prepares for RED ALERT.
Well, here's that RED ALERT as we prepare to dive in the Willamette River.
