2008 Holiday Letter
As we mentioned in our letter, we've been busy with house renovations --- and more.
((Try the SLIDE SHOW feature)).

We thought this might get a reaction...
... but the truth is, this place looked more "renovatible".
This room originally was a formal living room...
That we re-purposed into a new dining room...
... which turned out quite well

The original dining room was also changed...
... into a room we use as a second serving kitchen.
We demolished the kitchen, but salvaged the cabinetry...
Added a new floor, lighting and countertops
And is mostly complete now.

The Master Bath arrived in a nice pink hue...
... and ended up in more contemporary colors and textures.
We spent time to reface all the tile work...
And added some various textures...
Barb turned out to be the 'Grouting Queen'
We re-tiled the master bath Shower...
... including a pebble floor...
... and added recessed in-wall shelves.

Friends suggested we update this fireplace surround...
... and it helped to blend in with the new color scheme.
One benefit of the new place is a vast panorama on our deck.
But, NOT this panorama! This is a view from a weekend at Crater Lake.
We enjoyed neighborhood activities, like this jazz concert.
Barb is introduced to a Owen Roe Cabernet
The 'Gourmet Group' we belong to is a fun bunch
We attended a local 'Iron Chef' competition
We went to Walla Walla one weekend with friends...
Although we visited wineries, one discovery was a new brewery...
'Party Pigs' awaiting a return to Portland
Barb & Paula at Pepper Bridge Winery...

A Picnic at VaPiano Winery
A visit to new 'incubator' wineries, including TRIO Vintners

Brunch at 26 Brix
Last year, Bob was lucky enough to head to Oktoberfest...
Paulalso, Wes, Paul, Bobalso in Munich

Last year we also hosted BMW friends, Jan & Kirsten from Denmark
A view from a recent 'Gourmet Group' Dinner
... that included helping test new desserts.
We enjoyed the visit of Walt Schweiger, who motorcycled out from NY
There's more pictures of our 'guest pets' on this site...
But 'Mr. Willie' was a favorite. (Very quiet)
We also had a guest cat from next door visit. This is Harley.
If you wonder what Bob does for his winery customers...
Every bottle needs a label...
here's printing of some labels...
... and then later, applied on a bottling line

We close with some views of a favorite restaurant: The Benson
