Help out with the preparation of scenery, costumes, or other work for college plays.

Who, What, Where, When?

Report to the Theatre Scenery Shop (to the right of the Burnight Center Theatre Auditorium through the doors marked Green Room) and ask for Dave Ward, Richard Crother, or Etta Walton. The shop is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. except for lunch break from 12:00 to 12:30 P.M. The best time to work (most interesting assignments) is in the afternoons. If there is no work at that location go to the Costume Shop anytime and ask for Susan, Dori, or Claire. The Costume Shop is located at the top of the stairs behind the door with the tiny window to the immediate left of the Burnight Center Theatre Auditorium front glass doors.

Be Prepared

Please be prepared to work for a two-hour block of time. You may be using glue and paints so wear clothing that is suitable for crafts. Lockers are available if you bring your own lock. We do have a limited number of coveralls in case you forget. Make sure you have sturdy shoes that you don't mind getting messed up.

Safety First

Do not attempt to use any tool (especially power ones!) until you have been instructed on how to use it properly by a staff member. Safety equipment is available for you including: work gloves, face shields, ear plugs, and dust masks. Ask for and use them.

Credit

Keep your time card in the box in the shop office. Write-in the time you began work and the time you finished. Total the hours each time you work and have it initialed by staff. When you have completed ten hours of production work, turn in the completed card to your instructor.

Play Review
(3 points)

You may attend and write an additional review for a professional play to be found by the method described in the "Off Campus" section of the Play List. Extra Credit Reviews are only 500 words, but otherwise use the same guidelines as for required reviews. Use the questions from the review assignment that you missed, or if you have not missed a review choose questions that you haven't answered previously. Remember, I am much more demanding when I grade extra credit reviews. Do your best job or don't bother.
