With the comfort that we could find our way back because we were tracking our position with a GPS receiver, we attempted to find a route on the logging roads that followed the Chilco River Road. After midnight we bivouacked in the car. We departed sometime after dawn.

End of the day at the Cabin looking down the Homathko River Valley. Tatlayoko Lake is between us and the distant hills.

The next day we returned to see the fire. Now there were 200 people assigned to the fire and enough heavy equipment to open a mine. But the main burn was away from the road. They were taking convoys of cars single file along the highway. The road had not melted and hydro poles were blackened but standing. The site was still hot.
