Invite Announces Plans for 37th Annual Competition (November 10,
2003)
Meet organizers have announced plans to host Arcadia Invitational
XXXVII on Friday-Saturday, April 9-10, 2004. The meet, which traditionally
showcases many of the finest athletes from across the nation, will
be held at Arcadia High School, located approximately 17 miles northeast
of downtown Los Angeles.
Arcadia
Invitational XXXVII will follow the format used last year, with
the “Arcadia Relays” session on Friday night and the
“Arcadia Open/Invitational meets contested on Saturday. The
“Open” session traditionally features several top athletes
just off the cusp of qualifying for the night meet. The evening
portion of Arcadia Invitational XXXVII again promises to showcase
the leading talent from across the United States.
The Arcadia
Invitational enjoys a very rich history, with 21 national records
achieved at the event. In addition, the meet has served as a forum
for many of the world’s future stars, with a stunning 79 U.S.
Olympians competing in the meet during their high school years.
The Arcadia
Invitational in a nonprofit endeavor annually sponsored by Arcadia
High School, with any proceeds going to the Arcadia High School
track and field team and its athletic department.
