Sitting on the Potty

Keeping the plastic potty in our living room for three months has finally paid off.

At the end of May, Karin and Aidan and I went to Target, bought Aidan a plastic potty, had the little discussion about potty time and big-boy underwear, then let Aidan choose a few pairs of big-boy underwear. We started the 7/70 potty training plan (7 days, $70.00 to clean the carpets), but after a couple of days and a couple of poops on the floor, we realized that Aidan simply had no interest in using the potty, so we let it go (pun intended).

Yesterday, Aidan spontaneously went over to the potty, which has been moving around our living room since May; he lifted the lid, sat down, and said "Pooping." After turning bright red and grunting a bit, he stood up and went about his business. Karin and I, stunned, ran over to check his diaper. For the first time, we were happy to find a poop.

This morning Aidan did exactly the same thing. Yeah! Potty training, here we come.
