Great Day for the Species

The title is stolen from somewhere, but no less true for the theft.

Jan. 14, 2005 was, indeed, a great day for the human race. We landed human technology on another moon, aside from Earth's own moon. The Cassini-Huygens mission is a cooperative project of NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency and it just landed the Huygens space craft on the surface of Titan, a moon of Saturn. On the way down, the Huygens craft took pictures of what look like run-off channels leading to some sort of shore. No actual liquids, actually, but it looks like the remains of a seashore. It's just wonderful. Enjoy the pictures.
