Introduction
This family history began with research into the Wetherell family of England and Spain. The foundation of the research is the diary of John Wetherell written between 1845 and 1865. The title page reads "The Great Misfortune I met with on 22 March 1845 Suggested these Gleanings for the Benefit of My Children." ("The Great Misfortune" turned out to be the death of his young wife.) I intend to provide a link to a full text copy of this document which was written both in English and Spanish. I have been blessed by the generosity of several of my mother's cousins who have provided or lent me photos and the diary. My thanks to Jack, Coralie, and Noreen!

A year ago I found a posting on a GenConnect Message Board from the granddaughter of my great grandmother's sister. We have shared information and recently she sent me photocopies of letters and documents dating back as early as 1816. Thank you, Kay!

As the result of a visit to a Maritime Museum in Kent where I inquired about a 4th great grandfather who was Harbor Master, I was contacted by another descendant of the same Harbor Master. Within a month Janet sent me a wonderful copy of the Martin Family History written in 1904. Thank you, Janet!

While exploring the English side of my heritage, I found I could not neglect my Swedish roots. As a result of that research I have communicated with two of my father's Swedish cousins. Several years ago one of the cousins visited us here in the states.

In preparing my collection of ancestors for presentation on the Web, I have carefully removed all know living individuals from my notes out of respect for their privacy. Please contact me if you notice any changes that should be made. I welcome any additions or corrections.
