Bei Dao's anecdote.Sage advice that I heard yesterday at a
poetry/essay reading given by one of modern China's most well-known
poets.
If you are ever in a precarious situation and
feel as though you're being followed just a bit
too
closely, follow these following
steps:
1. If it's possible, try to evade them–duh. 2. If you must walk past them, look them in right in the eye. Preferably look the leader straight in the eye. 3. If you don't have the opportunity to do either, then find the nearest trash can and begin rummaging through it, for a criminal will never rob someone who has less than he has. I thought that the last piece of advice was the funniest...and possibly most useful. Link: Bei Dao Posted: Wed - November 9, 2005 at 08:29 PM |
