Munising
Shipwreck Cruise
Lake Superior is littered with shipwrecks. Countless seamen have lost their lives in its icy waters. At Munising, I took a 2-hour cruise in the Miss Munising , which has glass viewing ports in its hull allowing passengers to see some of the remnants of ships that lie in the channels around Grand Island.


The water was clear (and cold); nevertheless the beams of ships that had succumbed to Superior's waves in the 19th century were difficult to identify. That they were there was beyond question, however. What could be seen, we were told, were the remains of ships with names such as Burmuda and Michael Groh.
