QTatomizer
What is QTatomizer?
QTatomizer is a multi-platform Java application which "decompiles"; the internal data structure of QuickTime movies. These movies consist of media tracks, such as video and sound, and metadata, describing both the media and common movie movie properties. QuickTime stores this data, and some kinds of media data, in specialized structures called atoms which can be nested to form tree structures. QTatomizer parses the internal atomic structures of QuickTime files and displays them in a tree browser window. Any error or info messages encountered in parsing the file are output to a log message window. A separate player window displays the actual movie and a low level hex veiw of any data node also can be opened. QTatomizer also supports exporting the data in an XML-like text format for additional processing, documentation, email attachments, etc.
Platform Requirements
QTatomizer should run on any platform which supports QuickTime for Java available from Apple. (Although most of the functionality of QTatomizer is available without it, QuickTime is required for movie previewing and decompressing non-'zlib' data.) In cases where the supported Java environment does not include Swing, e.g., Mac OS 9.x and earlier, the Swing libraries must be downloaded from Sun. Memory requirements for QTatomizer, over and above running any Java application, are fairly modest (as little as 8 MB.), but are dependent on the size of the movie being decompiled.
