This page is dedicated to a new program for North Bend Football. The Circle of Champions is an effort to promote team competition and unity. The team will be divided into two conferences of five "Circles" each. Each Circle will be comprised of six to ten players. Every Circle will have a senior captain who will be in charge of motivating and organizing his Circle. Players will get points in the following areas: academic, attendance, camps & clinics, Dog Deeds (community or school service), turning in paperwork, speed workouts, strength workouts, and fundraising.
Players will receive up to 10 points for participation in the variety of activities we will have during the season. Every few weeks a Circle will be recognized for its effort with a special prize, outing, or activity. This is not to promote any type of negative feelings. We all root for each other and winners are greeted with respect from other Circles and players. The captains are being contacted and they will be picking their players in the next few days. Every team captain will have his players numbers and will keep them aware of summer activities.
We have already started to accumulate points for the following: Third trimester's grades, getting in paperwork to Coach Taylor, practicing for the 7 on 7, playing in the 7 on 7, and two players got credit for attending the Oregon Camp (good job, Jimmy and Clay). We also have plenty of opportunities to do good things for our community during these tough times.
Remember: we need $90 by July 4 for the Gold Beach Camp. We need to do a couple of fundraisers before July 19, so be ready. Participation in those events will count toward your Circle.
Watch this page for photos that catch some of the players efforts.
Circles of Champions Watch: Who has the early lead in the Circle of Champions Contest? Well, without adding in the grade point averages and the 7 on 7 days, Austin Hensley's team has the early lead followed closely by Dalton Iveans and the Dylan Lesher/Nathan Leman group. Just a few points behind those teams is the Travis Perez/Justin Brown circle. Do you want to make up ground quicky? Start getting your team members to lifting or arrange a Dog Deed. A Dog Deed is a school or community volunteer project. Do you know someone who needs a lawn cut or wood stacked or maybe even some grocery shopping done? Get some of your Circle to help out, record the date, time, and activity, turn it in to Coach Taylor and receive your Dog Deed points. Ask Mr. Taylor about the NB football team thank you cards you can give out that thank others for allowing us to be of service. They are pretty neat.
Lifting Attendance was light in week 1, but is picking up every night. Thanks to everyone who showed up in the first two weeks of lifting and we hope more can show up in the upcoming sessions. Remember, if you are involved in other activities, just let us know. We hope that all of you who are able to attend will. Many players want the thrill under the Friday Night Lights without doing the hard work it takes to get there. Make sure you are not one of those players.
Thank you to all of you who have already communicated with me and let me know about your conflicts. I am presently trying to purchase a journal for every player so he can document his activities and also to help him organize his summer and school year. In the mean time, it would be great to journal your summer workouts and activities so that we can refer to those for team points and attendance records.
Players receive more points for making out their workout sheets and working hard for the entire lifting time. Every lifting session will end with a short on-the-field speed session. Here are the lifting attendance records for the first two weeks. You will notice that the lifting is being dominated by younger players at this time. Some of you older players need to make a greater effort to get into the weightroom. It would be a shame not be at your very best in your last couple of years of high school ball.

How is your team doing in the lifting race? Take a look at the results so far. Do you have a reason for not lifting- example: legion or Babe Ruth game, basketball, family, out of town, injured or sick? Let us know your situation and you can still get some credit toward our activities. Are you working out when out of town. Record it in a journal and give it to us. You might get full credit. Check out your team's standing in the lifting category.
