2008 Far West League Champs

The 2008 season was a challenging one for the Bulldogs. The team had been in the playoffs every year since they had come into the league, but the graduation of twenty-three seniors left the 2008 in some doubt. Besides the loss of a host of all-leaguers from the year before, the Bulldogs also lost their successful, long-time coach Bill Masai who took a position in Dallas. A new head coach, a new system, and largely inexperienced group of returners may have had others in doubt, but the players never doubted their themselves and went on to have a 9-3 season.

Their run through the playoffs was stopped by the eventual state champs, Astoria, but the overall season was an exciting one. In six games the Bulldogs overcame the opponents leads and left the fans gasping for air more than once. More importantly, the team also overcame a series of unusual tragedies which left the football family mourning the loss of three people close to the program. Each week offered its own challenges and each week the players faced them with determination. When the dust had settled the team had amassed more wins than they had in any of the previous five seasons and captured the Far West League title.
