We know that participating in a sport is expensive. This
year, no one will have to pay for jerseys, but there are
other costs in a very costly sport. Because we do not have
an equipment budget, there will be some financial needs,
but we are trying to keep those at a minimum. The user's
fee is still $100, but we will be getting shorts and a
tee-shirt for the players to wear on non-pad days and if a
player works at a fundraiser, he will be credited with
points that amount to purchasing power. A player can offset
(actually eliminate) the cost of his "spirit pack" by
working in one of the following: working on the Polamalu's
deck, working at a car wash at Seven Feathers, selling
tickets to mower mania, or getting involved in one of our
other projects. We do not like the idea of 5% of the
players earning money for the other 95%. We want everyone
involved, so prepare to be involved in these team efforts.
We can only win if we are a team and that doesn't start on
a Friday nights; it starts now.
Activities:
There are several possibilites. We will be doing a huge
season kick-off barbecue, but we want to work with the
Booster Club and Alumni Club to make it a really big event.
If you look at the calendar on the web, you will notice a
dinner and bowling night as well as one movie night. On
game days this year we would like to revive a tradition
from the past and have a team meal. It might be a
breakfast, lunch, or afternoon meal depending on the game
situation, but we are hopeful it will add to the game day
atmosphere. If our fundraisers go well, we can do even
more.
