Trojans Step It Up Against Elmira

The Trojans drove eighty yards on their first drive, but fell inches short of a score, but that didn't dampen a great offensive effort on the night. The fired up players held Elmira to fewer than 100 yards of offense on the evening and countered with over 260 of their own. Derik Farley had a monster night with four sacks, a blocked punt, six tackles, and a 46 yard touchdown run. But Derik wasn't the only one who stepped things up. His cousin Dustin came up with some key defensive plays of his own and dragged tacklers for extra yardage every time he carried the ball. Ten different ball carriers packed the pigskin on the night and several had a healthy per carry average. The Falcons managed less than two yards per carry on the ground. Cody Walton's 18 yard TD pass to Kevin Godfrey with only 5 seconds left in the half gave Douglas a great lift going into the locker room. Defensively it was a team effort with every player dressed down making a positive contribution. The line was tough on both sides of the ball and played hard from first whistle to final horn. The Trojans hope to keep the momentum going this Friday when they host the always tough Myrtle Point Bulldogs. For the News Review coverage of the game click here.
