Gli Skaters de Midi

Gli Skaters de Midi is a group which regularly takes the pleasure of noon-time skating at the Meyrin rink. As its name hopes to imply, we are decidedly international. Our predilection for noon-time hours is dictated by the fact that many of us still have to earn our livings, and therefore cannot spend the entire day on the ice.

Many of us are members of the Section Artistique de Club des Patineurs de Meryin, and Gli Skaters de Midi are a recognized sub-group of the Club, which allows us to have a voice in preserving our noon-time hours during the pre- and post-season periods when the rink is not open to the general public.

Other than our common enthusiasm for the ice, we are a very diverse group, and welcome anyone to join us, in the hope of becoming even more diverse. Since our ages already span six decades, we can hardly expect more diversity on that front.
But there are many other dimensions of diversity left to explore.

Come and join us on the ice, and in the sun.

As if skating itself were not pleasure enough, a number of us are scientists, and attempt to understand the physical mechanisms behind the sport.

We are also fascinated by the noon-time sun, and follow its motion throughout the year in our "Project Solaire de Midi".

Gli Skaters de Midi est un groupe qui passe régulièrement, avec plaisir, le midi à la patinoire de Meyrin. Comme notre nom indique, nous sommes résolument international. Notre préférence pour les heures de midi est dictée par le fait que la plupart de nos membres ont encore besoin de gagner leurs vies, et en conséquence nous ne pouvons pas passer toute la journée sur la glace.

Plusieurs d'entre nous sont membres de la Section Artistique du Club des Patineurs de Meyrin; et Gli Skaters de Midi est reconnu comme un sous-groupe du Club. En tant qu’un sous-groupe du Club, nous pouvons préserver notre accès à la glace à midi pendant les avant- et après-saisons, lorsque la patinoire n'est pas ouverte au public.

Autre que notre enthousiasme commun pour la glace, nous sommes un groupe très divers. Venez tous nous rejoindre: novices, adeptes, jeunes, moins jeunes. En espérant de vous voir de suite à la glace et au soleil.
