60th Anniversary Dance
.................. |
|
Nearly 80 members attended the Dinner Dance in celebration of 60 years of the Northenden Players. Here our President addresses the guests with tales of the early days. The Chairman gave details of his book on the first 20 years of the Club. Each guest had a menu at their seat containing a facsimile of the programme for the first production by the then named Younger Generation. The play was called "The Rising Generation" and was given on March 23rd & 25th 1942.

Cutting the Cake |
| The Chairman looks on whilst Rene Rowland, a founding member, cuts the cake. Rene was able to give the Chairman a great deal of information as he researched his book on the early years of the Theatre Club. |
The dinner was held at the Willow Bank Hotel in Fallowfield , Manchester on Sept 21st and was followed by a disco. Here much energy was expended and the evening, which was enjoyed by all, ended well after midnight. For more photos of the events see the link above to 60th Birthday Dance |

| Tombola Success |
| *** |
| |
The Tombola was a great success with over 150 prizes being on offer. This meant that most people left with carrier bags filled with prizes they had won and the Players benefited by £115. The picture below shows the queue for the tombola which was longer than the que for the bar.
