The City of Whiting met in regular session June 5,2006, 7:PM in the
Council chambers
with Mayor Marr presiding.
Council present; Bock, Mattingly, Haack, Jones
Absent: Lyons.
Minutes of previous meeting approved as mailed.
Motion by Mattingly second by Haack to approve 1 month cigarette permit
for Charlies Bar
and cigarette permit renewals for Kirby's Market and Charlies Bar July
,2006.
Motion Carried
Motion by Jones second by Mattingly to renew beer permit and Sunday
Sales permit for
Kirby's Market. Motion Carried.
Motion by Haack second by Bock to approve outdoor service application
for Charlies Bar,
for July 3 and 4, 2006. Motion Carried.
Motion by Mattingly second by Jones to approve indeminity agreement
with Whiting School
for the use of a school bus for taking children to the Onawa swimming
pool. There will be a
minimum of 5 children on the bus before the bus will run. Motion
Carried.
Public hearing on 2005-2006 budget amendment opened at 7:20 PM.
There were no written or oral objections received.
Public Hearing closed at 7:25 PM.
Motion by Jones second by Mattingly to approve budget amendment of
2005-2006 current
budget. Motion carried.
Kristi Quinn, SIMPCO, attended to inform the council of the different
resources SIMPCO
can obtain to offer to Cities.
Ordinance 2006-3. An Ordinance Amending The Municipal Code Of Whiting,
Iowa by
Adding Chapter 14 to Title III Which Chapter Shall Be Entitled
“Residency Restrictions
For Sex Offenders.
Motion by Haack second by Jones to pass 1st reading ordinance 2006-3.
Roll call vote, all in favor.
Ordinance 2006-4. An Ordinance Temporarily Closing Certain Streets In
The City Of Whiting
on July 2,3, and 4,2006.
Motion by Haack second by Mattingly to approve Ordinance 2006-4.
Roll call vote, all in favor,
Motion by Mattingly second by Jones to waive 2nd and 3rd reading
Ordinance 2006-4.
Roll call vote, all in favor.
Motion by Bock second by Mattingly to have the City Of Onawa spray for
mosquitoes as
often as they have time. Motion Carried.
July 2006 meeting will be on July 10,2006 due to the 4th of July.
Motion by Haack second by Jones to have sign made for the Cemetery with
rules to be
followed when using the cemetery. Motion carried.
Motion by Jones second by Haack to designate the City Office as smoke
free. Motion carried.
Motion by Haack second by Jones to allow bills. Motion carried
