CITY OF WHITING
COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
NOVEMBER 24, 2008
The Whiting City Council met in special session on Monday, November 24, 2008, 5:00 PM, in the council chambers. Mayor Pro Tem Haack called the meeting to order with council members, Bird, Kepner and Sarrazin present. Also present was Patti Marr and Andrea Vaughn.
Motion by Bird and seconded by Sarrazin to amend the November 3, 2008 regular meeting minutes with correction of a typo on the first page of Ordinance no. 2006-3, an ordinance amending the Municipal Code of Whiting by adding Chapter 14 to Title III which chapter shall be entitled “Residency Restrictions for Sex Offenders”.saying “Chapter 16” and should have said “Chapter 14.” Motion carried unanimously.
Haack and Karen met with SIMPCO on updating the ordinances and they will meet with city attorney Jeff Sar and will report back to us.
Motion by Bird and seconded by Sarrazin to accept Layne-Western's bid of $3280.00 re: Well #3 Rehabilitation. Roll call vote, carried unanimously.
Motion by Kepner and seconded by Bird to purchase two more hydrants for replacement. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Bird and seconded by Kepner to approve the building permit/abatement for Charlie & Ashley Hagestrom. Roll call vote, motion carried.
Council member Pope entered the meeting at 5:09 PM.
Motion by Sarrazin and seconded by Bird to appoint Philip Derr to fill the vacancy for the Mayor of Whiting. He will fill the remaining of the four year term which will end 12/31/09. Roll call vote, motion carried unanimously.
Mayor Pro Tem Haack reported on the Grell/Nelson, 616 Stroud nuisance abatement. Will follow up with the owners.
With no further business, meeting was adjourned at 5:16 PM.
