Council Proceedings
April 2, 2007

The Whiting City Council met in regular session on Monday, April 2, 2007, 7:00 PM in the council chambers with Mayor Tom Marr presiding.
Council Present: Haack, Jones, Seward
Absent: Bock, Lyons
Minutes of previous meeting approved as mailed.
Mayor Marr read with regret the resignation letter of Council member Bock because of relocation of work. Motion by Haack and seconded by Seward to accept Bock's resignation. Motion carried. Motion by Haack and seconded by Jones to advertise and appoint a new council member next regular council meeting to fill the vacancy. Motion carried.
Leslie Hubert attended representing the Whiting Youth Assn. Discussed summer ball program and voiced concern on the standing of the Sports Complex playing fields and concession stand. Mayor Marr still waiting for the bid from S&H Drilling.
Motion by Seward and seconded by Jones to grant a building variance to Richard Dietschy for the building of a garage with his responsibility to look into relocating a curb stop and getting a signature of the abutting property owner. Motion carried.
Les George attended suggesting that crushed rock was needed for the driveways of the cemetery and maintenance was needed on the lawn mower. Will look into getting rock and estimates on a new motor or overhauling the old one.
Jeff Sar will draw up papers for an easement with Kirby's Market and the city.
Motion by Haack and seconded by Seward to hire William Kennedy as Animal Control Officer for the city of Whiting. Motion carried.
Policies tabled until next month.
Motion by Haack and seconded by Jones to hire Joe Mattingly @ $6.50/hr to help Skip thru the summer months. Motion carried.
Discussion was on service agreements with Thelander Heating and Cooling for the City and Whiting Fire Department. Motion by Haack with no second motion. Motion dropped.
Motion by Haack and seconded by Jones to allow bills. Motion carried.
Mayor Marr adjourned meeting at 9:25 PM.
