Council Proceedings
September 10, 2007

Mayor Marr called the Whiting special Council Meeting to order at 6:00 PM. Council members present were Seward, Pope, Haack, and Lyons. Corkery absent.
Housing project was tabled until next meeting.
Minutes of August 6, 2007 were amended as should have been Les George instead of Les Jones.
Motion by Haack and seconded by Lyons to approve building permits of Gray, Teel and Witt. Roll call vote, all in favor.
Motion by Haack and seconded by Seward to pass 1st reading of Ordinance No. 2007-1, Amending Chapter 1 of Title IV of the Whiting Municipal Code and providing for licensing and control of dogs and cats. Roll call vote, Seward, Pope and Haack in favor and Lyons opposed.
Motion by Haack and seconded by Pope to pass Resolution 2007-3, Approving 2006-07 Road Use Tax Report. Roll call vote, all in favor.
Lawnmower bids were discussed. Motion by Haack and seconded by Lyons to purchase the Gravely 272H 26 HP from Robertson Implement Co. for $8000.00, with tire chg. out, jack stand, and a additional set of blades not included in the bid. Roll call vote, all in favor. Skip will have the Kabota checked out and get an estimate on repairs.
Town Clean Up will be September 27th,28th and 29th, 2007 with Les George available at the site.
Motion by Haack and seconded by Pope to accept Wolf Tree Service bid of $2875 with the possibility of adding another tree on Salem street. Roll call vote, all in favor.
Motion by Haack and seconded by Seward to hire Denny Fegenbush at $10.00/hr to mow and trim the cemetery for the rest of the season. Will monitor the weekly hours. Roll call vote, all in favor.
Discussion on tampering of cemetery property. Will look further into this.
Motion by Lyons and seconded by Seward to participate in the 2010 Census. Clerk will attend meeting on September 13, 2007. Roll call vote. All in favor.
Motion by Pope and seconded by Lyons for clerk to attend Clerk's meetings with neighboring clerks once a month with mileage and meal paid for. Roll call vote, all in favor.
Discussion on the missing plaques on the four benches in the city park. City will order and replace them.
CPR certification for the Whiting Fire Dept. members was discussed. The Fire Department will determine what is needed.
Motion by Haack and seconded by Lyons to accept Rehab Systems, Inc. bid of $5600.00 on repair of the lagoon. Roll call vote. All in favor.
Motion by Haack and seconded by Lyons to approve bills. Roll call vote, all in favor
