Motion by Haack and seconded by Sarrazin to appoint Russ Kepner back on the city council since he was not relocating. Ayes: All. Motion carried unanimously.
Kristi Quinn, representing SIMPCO presented Local Hazard Mitigation Plans for our community. She explained if Whiting ever wanted to access dollars if a disaster struck our community we would have to have a plan in place. Hazard mitigation planning is important because FEMA requires entities to have a Local Mitigation Plan in place to receive federal disaster funding. Since Whiting is a member of SIMPCO there would be no extra charge for SIMPCO to prepare the plan. Motion by Sarrazin and seconded by Haack to accept the plan. Ayes: All. Motion carried.
Meg Polly and Barb Hobbs attended presenting the proposed budget for the 2009-2010 fiscal year and an update for the Whiting Public Library.
