CITY OF WHITING
COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
JULY 2, 2007
The Whiting City Council met in regular session on Monday, July 2,
2007, 7:00 PM in the council chambers with Mayor Tom Marr presiding.
Council present: Seward, Haack, Corkery
Absent: Lyons
Also present: Barb Metzger, Lori Sarrazin, Mike Gale
Minutes of previous meeting approved as mailed.
Mayor Marr read John Jones' resignation letter as council member
because they were moving. Motion by Haack and seconded by Corkery to
accept his resignation. Motion carried. Will advertise and appoint a
new council member at the next meeting in August.
Barb Metzger attended the meeting and applied for a Fireworks Public
Display Permit for her and her husband Rollie. Motion by Haack and
seconded by Seward to grant the permit. Motion carried.
Rick Zortman attended and presented his bids for crushed concrete and
white rock for the ballfields parking. Council wanted him to check into
other options also and will report back.
Mayor Marr reported that he met with Steffen Engineering on the housing
project and they will report back with options and bids.
Motion by Haack and seconded by Corkery to hire Patricia Adams to drive
the swimming bus @$8.00/hr. Motion carried. Clerk will check to see if
she will accept the position.
Motion by Haack and seconded by Corkery to pass 2nd reading of
Ordinance 2007-1. Roll call vote. All in favor.
Motion by Haack and seconded by Seward to accept Wolf Tree Service for
trimming and removal of trees for $1477.50. Motion carried.
Discussion on Kirby's ditches and tubes was held. Bryan Seward will
check into this.
Council would like the Rodeo Association to report to the council on
the rodeo events. Clerk will notify the Rodeo Assn.
The cemetery lawn mower was repaired and the council will get different
bids on lawn mowers for the city and report back. Discussion was to
keep the old one for a back-up if needed.
Motion by Haack and seconded by Seward to allow bills. Motion carried.
Bryan Seward addressed his concern for maintenance of gravel roads and
the street sweeper.
