CITY OF WHITING
COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
MAY 7, 2007
The Whiting City Council met in regular session on Monday, May 7, 2007,
7:00 PM in the council chambers with Mayor Tom Marr presiding.
Council Present: Haack, Jones, Seward, Lyons
Absent: none
Minutes of previous meeting approved as mailed.
William Kennedy attended and answered questions concerning animal
control for the city.
Pam Storm and Jennifer Wiggs represented the Whiting Community Club and
presented their ideas on playground equipment for the city park. Motion
by Haack and seconded by Jones permission to install playground
equipment in the city park. Motion carried.
Motion by Lyons and seconded by Haack to appoint Lynette Corkery to
fill vacancy on the City council. Roll call vote, all in favor.
Motion by Lyons and seconded by Seward to accept Lund's Care &
Repair's bid to purchase a new engine for the cemetery lawn mower.
Motion carried.
Les George attended and resigned mowing the Whiting Cemetery until a
replacement can be found. Will advertise for a replacement.
Skip presented his well and pump testing results from Layne-Western and
will get estimates on maintenance and repairs.
Housing development progress was discussed.
Discussion on progress on the Sports Complex.
Motion by Jones and seconded by Seward to approve the Tax Abatement for
Scott Richardson. Motion carried.
Letters will be sent to the residences in Whiting who fail to mow or
cut weeds on their premises.
Discussion on Hwy 75 drainage. Will check into this matter further.
Motion by Haack and seconded by Jones to adopt Resolution no. 2007-1,
approving 2007/08 budget. Roll Call call vote, 3 ayes, 1 nay.
Discussion on wages for the 2008/09 was tabled until the December 2007
meeting.
Police car discussion was tabled until later time.
Motion by Lyons and seconded by Seward to accept Wolf Tree Service to
cut and remove two trees on Maple and Blair.
Motion by Lyons and seconded by Seward to send clerk to Street
Financial Report training and Clerk's Institute in July of 2007. Motion
carried.
Motion by Jones and seconded by Haack to allow bills. Motion carried.
Mayor Marr adjourned meeting at 10:20 PM.
