CITY OF WHITING
COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
FEBRUARY 4, 2008
The
Whiting City Council met in regular session on Monday, February 4, 2008, 7:00
PM in the council chambers. Mayor Marr called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
Council members present were Kepner, Bird, Pope, Sarrazin and Haack. Jeff Sar,
city attorney, also was present.
Bird
made the motion to accept the consent agenda which consisted of the minutes of
Jan. 14, 2008 special meeting, bills as presented, and the financial report.
Sarrazin seconded and with a roll call vote, all were in favor.
Lacey
Kirchmeir was here from SIMPCO and presented an agreement for a code of
ordinances update. Motion by Haack and seconded by Sarrazin to accept SIMPCO's
bid of $2530.00. Roll call vote, all in favor. The project will be completed by
no later than July, 2008.
The
Housing Project was tabled until next meeting.
Motion
by Haack and seconded by Bird to approve the Fire and Rescue budgets as
proposed. Roll call vote, all in favor.
Skip is
to get bids on snow blowers and a trailer for the city lawn mowers. Is to
report back at next meeting.
Kepner
would like to see some signs to show the direction to the ball field. Will
discuss with Skip and determine the possibilities.
Motion
by Haack and seconded by Sarrazin for the clerk to apply for a Sam's Club
membership. Roll call vote. All in favor.
Purchasing
four pick up tires for city pickup was discussed. Will check into this further.
Mayor
Marr designated the council members to certain areas of the city. It is as
follows: Parks/Ballfields – Haack, Cemetery – Bird, Water/Sewer
– Pope and Sarrazin, Streets – Kepner, and with Haack as Pro-Tem.
With no
further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 PM.
