CITY OF WHITING
COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
DECEMBER 3, 2007

The Whiting City council met in regular session on Monday, December 3, 2007, in the council chambers. Mayor Tom Marr called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Council members present were Kepner, Bird, Pope and Haack. Lyons was absent. Jeff Sar, city attorney, also was present.
Mayor Marr welcomed the new council members.
Motion by Bird and seconded by Haack to approve the consent agenda which included the minutes of the November 5, 2007 meeting , bills as presented and the financial report. Motion carried.
Motion by Haack and seconded by Pope to renew Charlie's Lounge liquor license. Motion carried.
Motion by Pope and seconded by Bird to approve the third reading of Ordinance no. 2007-1, Amending Chapter 1 of Title IV of the Whiting Municipal Code and Providing for Licensing and Control of Dogs and Cats. Motion carried.
Discussion was held on the Housing project with Jerry Steffen (Steffen Engineering), Dick Derr and Dana Kirby present. Kirby will look further into applying for a grant for the project and furnish the city with the information.
Skip informed the council that the International truck was repaired by Great Plains International.
Motion by Bird and seconded by Haack to order the materials to replace the necessary fire hydrants from HD Waterworks Supply with a bid of $5869.06. Motion carried.
Clerk gave the report of the progress of David Thomas's project with receiving the amount of $880.00 so far.
Discussion was held on furnishing the city employees with health insurance. Will check on insurance quotes and report on this the next meeting.
