January 8,2007

The Whiting City Council met in regular session January 8,2007 ,7:00 PM in the council

chambers, with Mayor Marr presiding.

Council present: Bock, Jones, Lyons,Seward, Haack

Absent: None

Minutes of previous meetings were approved as mailed.

Motion by Haack second by Jones to purchase 2003 Ford pickup from the Sloan Stat -e Bank

for $13,500, and to have Main Street Motors in Onawa remove lift kit and big tires for $1,150 to

$1,350. 4 ayes 1 abstain. Motion carried

After discussion the council voted to approve the proposed Library budget with exception of

salaries. Margaret Polly to receive a .50 an hour raise to $11.50 per hour.

Pamela Rasmussen to receive a .30 cent an hour raise to $7,25 per hour.

Joan Roberts to receive a .11 cent an hour raise to $7.00 per hour

Motion by Lyons second by Seward to approve Library budget as amended. Motion carried.

Council reviewed the Fire & Rescue budget. Motion by Haack second by Bock to approve

Fire and Rescue budgets as proposed.

Motion by Lyons second by Bock to accept City budget as proposed with the exception of

salaries. Motion carried

Motion by Lyons second by Jones to adopt section 9-1 Of the City policy handbook. Work wsek

and hours of work. Carried

Motion by Lyons second by Haack to adopt section 4-7 of the City Policy Handbook, Use of City Of

Whiting Property. Carried

Motion by Lyons second by Bock to adopt section 4-8 of the City policy handbook, Use of City

Of Whiting vehicles. Carried

Motion by Lyons second by Jones to adopt section 4-9 of the City policy handbook. Use of City Of

Whiting time. Carried

Motion by Haack second by Bock to grant all full time City employees 10 days a year sick leave

and all full part time 4 days sick leave. Carried

Motion by Lyons second by Seward to have City office time cut to 32 hours a week. Carried

Policy handbook discussion tabled until February meeting. Carried

Motion by Lyons second by Jones to accept Long Lines bid for cell phones if no fee will be

charged by Verizon. Carried

Motion by Jones second by Bock to allow bills. Carried
