Go to work on an egg


When I was researching my book on Tony Hancock I never managed to see his famous TV commercials for the Egg Marketing Board (slogan, 'Go to work on an egg'). Its successor, the Egg Information Service, wanted to rerun them but was prevented because they breached advertising guidelines (apparently by suggesting that an egg by itself was an adequate breakfast).

Nobody 'goes to work on an egg' these days. Unless they're a rooster.
