Cathedral of Puerto Montt, made of wood, is one of the city's oldest buildings.
Entrance to the Petrohue' Rapids.
The volcanic rocks surrounding the volcanos in the Lake District have been ...
... cut through by flowing water, creating powerful rapids and falls.
The Petrohue' Rapids and Falls are impressive.

The rapids serve to oxygenate the waters, turning them blue.

Walk ways out over the rapids enable people to walk out and gain views from ...
... the far side of the rapids.
The walk to the rapids is long and not too easy, so take care.
Following the rapids, we traveled to and up the Osorno Volcano.
Midway up there's an observation center and chair-lift.

There's a pathway to walk around the side of the mountain. It's not easy ...
... but it's worth the walk.

The volcanic ash/rock/gravel is difficult to walk on, and the path is narrow ...
... but the views are breathtaking.
The desolation has its own beauty.

Mixed in with the black dust and rock ...
... is scrub-brush and ...
... the orange/red of sulfur.

As I watched, the clouds began to lift enabling a view of the plain bellow.

Looking up toward the peak, show covers it.
From the plain bellow, the peak of the Osorno Volcano becomes visible.

The peak is still snow-capped, even though the volcano is active ...
... and has erupted in the recent past.
