Antarctica - Part 6

Our last day in Antarctica we cruised along the Antarctica Peninsula, taking in the majestic sights of the mainland as we passed through Paradise Harbor, Andvoort Bay, and Cuverville Island.

5 am and the day promises to be glorious!
The Rotterdam cruised through Gerlache straight headed for Paradise Bay.
The Antarctic mainland rises high with rock, ice, an snow.

The towering cliffs soar high into the sky ... thick ice and snow.

As the Rotterdam cruises into Paradise bay, the sun plays peek-a-boo with clouds
The morning wind is bitterly cold.
The Rotterdam cruised into Paradise bay and the winds become calm.

The scenery is amazing.

Some Gentoo Penguins on a passing ice berg come up to say "hello!"

The Argentine Base sits on the shore at the base of a massive mountain.

Gentoo Penguins come swimming by to say "hi!"

We approach the base.

These penguins are fast!

We slowly pass the Argentine Base, called Almirante Brown Research Station.

Some of the base personnel come out to say "hi" ...
... and have their photos taken with the Rotterdam in the background!
I wish I could contact them and have them send me their photos!
The reflections off the smooth water is like a mirror
Glorious views!
Ruth sits out on the forward bow, enjoying the morning!
RevNeal is having a wonderful time, too.
RuthC and RevNeal share the lens for a photograph.

Penguins come down to watch us as we sail by.
