Buenos Aires, Argentina - Part 1

Our first port-of-call on this cruise after departing Rio de Janeiro, was Buenos Aires, Argentina. Here we arranged a tour which covered the highlights of this lovely city.

Our first stop on our tour was the Metropolitan Cathedral, which is located ...
... on the Plaza De Mayo, across from the "Casa Rosada," ...
... the Argentine President's offices/residence.
In the Cathedral is he tomb of General José de San Martín, the liberator.

I'd get a nose bleed preaching from this pulpit!

The exterior of the Cathedral.
BA has an excellent, efficient public transit system in the form of a subway.
A glimpse of the Obelisk, located in the center of the city.
We took a cruise along the intercostal canals, where many ...
... upper middle class people live.

Ship wrecks along the coast line are numerous.
Also in evidence is Argentina's answer to "Six Flags"

The interior of our canal boat.

Access was a bit difficult for those with mobility issues.
The modern buildings of BA in the background ... the shanty towns of the poor...
... in the foreground.

Driving along the Avenida 9 de Julio toward the Plaza de la Republica ...
... the Obelisk rises in front of us.
Traffic was heavy, but we got a good view.
The Colón Theatre ... we would have stopped here but it's undergoing renovat...

On the Plaza de la Republica the billboards remind one of Times Square, NYC.
