Cartagena, Colombia

Following the Canal, we cruised to Cartagena, Colombia, where we took the City Tour. What a DISASTER. It rained like crazy. However, I did get a few nice photographs of the city.

Fort of San Felipe de Barajas
We toured the Fort first thing off the ship, but our guides didn't think ...
... about the possibility that we might not like getting soaked ...
... or that we might find lightening striking the fort to be somewhat upsetting.
Also ... the climb was NOT "easy," no matter what they say.
We also visited this monastary, which gave us a lovely view of the city.
Cartagena really is a large, fairly modern city.

The Zaandam, dock at Cartagena's industrial port.

Cartagena is a mix of old Spanish colonial structures ...
... and modern high-rises.
It's also a den of poverty ...
... they'll climb a mountain to beg money from tourists.
The monastery has a huge gold-leaf altar. Rather gaudy on the inside ...
... rather plain on the outside.

Leaving the monastery, we couldn't escape the peddlers.

Cartagena Colombia's port is an industrial/commercial port.

I don't think I'll come back to Columbia any time soon.
