San Diego

San Diego was our last port in the United States before heading to Central America. Here about 800 passengers got off and 750 or so got on to make the trip on to Panama and beyond. Lovely city.

The Cruise Ship Terminal at Port San Diego is BUSY.
We were docked across the pier from the Holland America Line's Statendam.
Those boarding our ship processed for boarding in this tent.
It's a busy port
There were three ships in at the same time.

We were able to watch the passengers on the Statendam attend the lifeboat drill.
The Statendam departs for Hawaii.

The Zaandam departing for Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, and points east.

The USS Midway is ported in San Diego as a Museum.
San Diego is a lovely city.

In the middle of San Diego's Harbor is a large Island and San Diego Naval Base.
Air Craft Carrier groups are home ported here.

One of my Church members is stationed here.
There are US Navy attack subs docked here.
And one sub was in dry dock as we passed.
What a lovely day to go to sea!
The Statendam turns west, into the setting sun, for her 15 day cruise to Hawaii.
Meanwhile, the Zaandam sets her course due-south, for Cabo San Lucas.
