Caiaphas' House

The site of Caiaphas' House now has a church over it, but the subterranean dungeon where Jesus was held and punished remains and one can visit it. It's lovely.

Climbing the ancient, 1st Century steps that Jesus climbed is a powerful ...
... spiritual experience. Among the ancient sites in Israel, these steps are...
... among those that are, without question, where Jesus actually walked.
The ruins of the High Priests residences can still be seen along this hillside.
Higher up, at Caiaphas' House, the steps are in better preservation.

The archeological digs leading to the subterranean dungeon.
The partly-natural, partly artificial caves are narrow and low.
They have been lit and the main chambers expanded above.
The main room where Jesus would have been held and punished.
Holes, still visible in the rock, where they would have strung Jesus up.

A prayer center, where Greg lit 3 candles and prayed for family and friends.
The statuary here is lovely.
The Church above is also lovely ...
... with some excellent stained glass windows.
Read the sign.

The mosaic has been so weathered it is almost invisible now.
"You are one of those who was with him."
"I tell you, I knew him not!" And the cock crowed.
