Cristina Taranu came to NYC from her native country Romania in 1998. Originally an actress, Cristina worked in theatre before becoming a student at Studio Jewelers Ltd. in 2005. After graduation, Cristina and her partner Reiner Mengesdorf created the company “Reinerland”. Currently, the duo can be found at "Edge" on 65 Bleecker Street in Noho, NYC, where innovative jewelry designers showcase their talent. For her collections, Cristina combines the traditions of Romania's antique and delicately crafted pieces, along with a style sensibility that is lush and modern, using bold, bright colors and innovative design. Cristina carefully chooses her gemstones from all over the world for their unique and unusual beauty. The jewelry is artfully handcrafted and honed by the designer in her Brooklyn studio.
