Pro Verizon
Abstract:
In response to last night's post.
Body:
Last night I posted about how BREW sucks, and I
put a lot of the blame on Verizon. But as my fiancee pointed out, it made it
look like I hate Verizon, which I don't. So here's what I love about
Verizon.
Since switching, I have better
reception. We get more coverage in more places, and text messaging is cheaper.
My phone can play MP3s as ringers, so essentially any song on my computer can
become a ringer. And, probably most importantly, most of the people we talk to
(i.e. most of the people Sarah talks to) are on Verizon, so we don't use up our
minutes. This leaves us plenty of airtime even on the cheapest shared plan,
giving us lots of time to use with phone applications. Also, Verizon feature
phones get fast Internet access for pretty cheap, so aside from the browser
limitations, you have a much better Internet experience than on phones with
slower access.
And, I can't forget the
most important thing: Verizon has great customer service. Every time we've
contacted them for something they've done their best to provide us with a good
solution, including crediting back money spent on songs and applications when
moving to new phones (most of their phones can't transfer data between each
other) and always providing replacements for defective phones, even when the
problem was unrepeatable in the store. Plus they have the best customer service
rating in the industry, so I'm sure that if something was really horrible, they
could take care of it.
So although I'm
not thrilled about the way they treat their feature-phone customers in the sense
that they don't allow us to control our own phones, I'm otherwise satisfied with
Verizon. Definitely the best choice right now in America.
