Oops ... it's been a while

I guess it's been a while since I last posted. I have to admit that some of my enthusiasm for doing this had left me for a bit. Last weekend I had an unfortunate brush with some people online who weren't very nice, and it really made me think twice about continuing to post anything. Also, I've been really busy with work, as one of those very nasty people mentioned that they thought I should be, so I have had little knitting progress to report!

Yesterday I picked up some of my eBay yarn from the post office. I bought 20 balls of Rowan Cork a few weeks ago. It was so cool. This time I didn't have to pay duty because the seller had marked the yarn as a gift. I feel kind of bad about that, but I guess that these things even out in the end. Anyway, I seem to still be being a bit monochromatic, although not with purple.

On the left is the gauge swatch in Cork. I wanted to get that over with right away, and I was excited about working with the new yarn, so that's why I knit it. On the right is a ball of Cotton Patine that I picked up for half price last weekend. Oops ... they're pretty much the same colour! I guess that it doesn't really matter, but it's funny that I end up doing this. I thought that it was just because I really liked purple that I kept on getting stuff in the same colour, but maybe that's not the case.

I've been getting pretty excited about socks lately. I really want to try some toe up socks soon, and I also picked up some really neat Regia last weekend. It's called banner colour, and from the picture on the label, it will stripe up in fairly wide stripes that sort of blend into one another. I'm looking forward to working with this as well as the yellow Opal that I've got. Hmmm ... it seems like yellow is the new purple for me.

Anyway, my stash is starting to look accusingly at me from across the room. I have so many big plans for it, but nothing's proceeding with much speed. I did finally start some mittens, which are going fast enough since I am knitting them up on 5.5 mm needles. I love how they look, but I'll wait for a finished object to post them. Rogue now has just a sleeve and a half to go, and if I get some more movie watching time this weekend that will get worked on. The Monk's Satchel has only the back to be knit before I can at least start sewing it up so that it will look like a bag. The back's the second longest knit, though.

So, there is much to do and I just don't knit fast enough.
