Weather pics

Here's a couple of neat cloud pics that I took over the Christmas holidays.

This one shows roll vortices over Lake Superior. I took it on the morning of January 4, 2005.

This one shows what I think is a gravity wave signature in the cloud pattern. I don't know where it is because there was no way of telling in the plane, however I took it on the flight from Toronto to Denver on January 9, 2005. I think that we may have been about an hour out from Denver, but I'm not sure where that would put us. It was a pretty cool cloud pattern, though.

Unfortunately, I don't know that there's much I can get from these ... I don't know how high the plane was or, more importantly, the height above the clouds. I like the pics, though. I tried to catch a pic of roll vortices over Lake Ontario on the morning of Christmas Eve, but they didn't turn out. I didn't remember that I had my camera on me until we started to circle back to make a landing at the airport. Bummer.
