Progress on knit things and a graft question
I wasn't feeling too well yesterday so I stayed
in. It was pretty miserable, because I couldn't really move for a while, and
then I had to take a 3 hour nap. No matter. I feel okay now. The bright side
of the immobile day at home was that I got a bunch of knitting done. I finished
the hood of Rogue, and I'm up to the bit where you graft the hood. I stopped
there last night because I figured that I'd better be awake for it. So here's
the question: As I graft across the reverse stockinette, should I account for
that? I've looked for any comment on the web about how to do the graft, but I
don't see any. I guess that I should know to do this, but I think I've confused
myself. I checked out the Fall IK to see what wisdom it had to share about
grafting over textured stitches, and the suggestion there was to graft over the
knit stitches on the right side, then turn over and graft the knit stitches on
the wrong side. I dunno ... I'm lazy so I don't want to do that, but I do want
it to look good. If anyone out there has an opinion, let me know. I'm going to
barrel ahead as usual with one method and see how it works. Hopefully it won't
end in tears. Hey, speaking of that maybe I should check to see what EZ has to
say. It's getting cold enough here in
the big smoke to have to wear hand coverings. I've had loads of grand plans for
mittens and fingerless gloves and all sorts of things, but none of them got off
the ground before the cold moved in. It seems to be an admission of defeat to
use a scarf, hat, or glove that is purchased from a store. What kind of a
knitter does that? I've finished swatching for some mittens, though, and I am
ready to go on them. Unfortunately I'm going to have to head out and grab yet
another set of dpns for them. Hopefully I can find a brand that I like a bit
better than the Swallow caseins. I like the way that the Swallows look a lot,
and they feel nice too, but the point on them is just too shallow for my taste.
Not that I really need a trip to the yarn
store.A pictorial representation of my
knitting plans and progress for the weekend:
