Uh ... hi there.

Lisa has encouraged me to come back. She says that she keeps checking to see whether I've put anything up, and so here you go.

I haven't been knitting much over the past couple of weeks. I had a big conference to go to the week after Christmas, and I wasn't ready for it. As a result, I had to spend a lot of time doing work to get ready for it. Also, I don't know ... maybe I just needed a break. I think I've been feeling seriously guilty about the amount of time I've spent knitting instead of working. Since I would really like to graduate within the next year (funny how that deadline continues to shift!) I've been working and worrying and attending to my scientific life for the last while.

I got jazzed up about my knitting again this weekend, though. I have had this fantastic pink Lamb's Pride Worsted sitting around for a few months (Victorian Pink ... I love that shade) and I realised that it was time to do something with it. I had been planning to make a Lavold design with it, but decided that the yarn would be unsuitable for it. I've been so pleased with Rogue ever since I finished it, and I thought, hey, I need another cardigan. Strangely, purple doesn't match everything ... so maybe pink will. Well, maybe not the stuff that purple doesn't match, but anyway, I've decided to do a seamless yoke sweater type of cardigan based on EZ's percentage method. I was inspired by Kate Watson's fair isle cardigan from Stitch n' Bitch Nation. I'm inspired, rather than following because that pattern's written for Lamb's Pride Bulky, so I kind of felt that I had to kind of start from scratch. My gauge is pretty different, so I'm just going to go from EZ's directions or the Knitter's Handy Book of Sweater Patterns. I'd show a pic, but it's not that exciting yet as I only started it yesterday. I haven't decided on the pattern on the yoke. I figure I'll decide when I get there ... except I may do some experimentation on the sleeves.

Okay, so some pics. Toe up socks from Lucy Neatby's book:

Vest in Manos del Uruguay ... my pattern pulled out of my butt.

Mom's Charlotte's Web (which was supposed to be for Christmas!

Anna's mermaid socks from Lucy Neatby.

Yeah, instead of doing a lot of knitting, I finished Knights of the Old Republic II. Good game. I recommend it ... nothing ground breaking. Just an add on to the first one, really. I expect to fall into World of Warcraft at some point around my birthday.

One future knitting project has to be a nice cosy for my lovely new iBook. The one that I knit for the 12" powerbook doesn't fit the iBooks because they're thicker. Oh well. It just gives me the opportunity to come up with a lovely cabled one.
