Important announcement: tribute
rescheduled
It will be on Saturday,March 26, 2005 at 8:30 PM
Congregation Kehillath Israel, Brookline, Ma.
On January 22, 2005, the Jewish community of Sharon,
Massachusetts
came together to celebrate the life of Naomi Shemer. At the bottom of
this page is a poster announcing the event A dedicated
group of volunteers and sponsors worked hard to put together an
enjoyable evening. The weather did not cooperate, and our
attendance was 200 rather than 500; our spirits did cooperate, as the
pictures on this site attest. Please
explore the
links at the top of this page to
learn about the tribute that took place during the blizzard of
2005. Two of our speakers, our song leader, and our trio of singers
were stranded in Boston. Fortunately, Cantor Dress, Rabbi
Creditor, and Rabbi Paskin agreed to pinch hit and lead the sing-along
portion of the program
The comments link at the top of this page leads to a page where several
people give their
reflections about Naomi Shemer. If you would like to add your
own
comments, please use the link at the bottom of that
page.
It was a pleasure to be a co-chairman of the Naomi Shemer
Tribute
in Sharon. I had the opportunity to work with some great
people,
not the least of whom was my co-chairman, Rob Spiegel. See the welcome
page for a list of the people that worked on the program.
