Geographic Word: You will be given a specific vocabulary term each week. There will be 3 requirements for full credit in this area. 
  1. Give the definition of the word;
  2. Give an example of where this word can be found in the world (name a place);
  3. Use the term in a meaningful sentence.
Country: Select a country whose name begins with the week's letter.  Include the following:
  1. Identify the country;
  2. Identify the capital city;
  3. Longitude and Latitude of the capital city;
  4. Identify on which continent the country is located;
  5. Identify in which hemisphere the country is located;
  6. Five important facts about the country;
  7. Drawn and colored picture of the flag;
  8. Printed map of the country.
Extra Credit:
  1. Draw and color a picture of an animal indiginous to the country;
  2. Three facts about the animal.
Current Event: Find and record the important information of a current event (look for the facts).  A current event is something happening in the news within the last year.  Using the facts, write a brief summary paragraph.  Note: A printed copy of the current event needs to accompany your paragraph for any points to be earned.  The paragraph needs to answer the following:
  1. Who
  2. What
  3. When
  4. Where
  5. Why
  6. A copy of the article included
Famous Person: Choose a famous person to research and report on.  Their last name must start with the letter of the week.  Write several paragraphs, and include the following information:
  1. Is your information in paragraph form;
  2. Person's last name begins with the letter of the week;
  3. Where does/did this person live;
  4. What this person is famous for;
  5. Included important dates in this persons life;
  6. Included a picture of the famous person.
Extra Credit:
  1. Famous person is from your country.
Format: Neatness counts! Points will be deducted for sloppy work.  You must use a composition notebook.  Record your information on two facing pages.  Add flaps or foldouts if necessary to increase your space.  
  1. Border must be neat and appropriate to the letter of the week;
  2. Layout must use space wisely;
  3. Overall layout must be neat;
  4. You must follow all of these directions.

How will my Geo-Book be graded?  
These books are worth 38 points per week and are due on Fridays.  Late work will be penalized 10% of the total points (4 pts).
