Experience
All of my teaching experience has been at Brownell where I have taught sixth, fifth, and fourth grades.
Certificates
I have attended classes on Quantum Learning and Advanced Literacy Instructional Strategies. I have also gone to day seminars on Love and Logic from which I have gained skills to use in the classroom as well as at home with my child. Ask me about Jim Faye's approach to teaching and parenting.
Education
I received my bachelor's degree from Iowa State University. I earned a master's in education plus some hours beyond at the University of Nebraska. I also took advantage of a special program at UNL and received an endorsement in middle school.

Homework
Fourth grade students are encouraged to do 20 - 40 minutes of homework nightly. This might involve the weekly spelling lesson and studying the words for the Friday test. It could involve the daily math homework and studying of math facts/skip counting. Personal reading is also a great thing to do. Current events are to be completed every quarter by using the complimentary paper from the Lincoln Journal Star. In general, any work that doesn't get completed at school and is due the next day is to go home to be returned completed the next day. This is a great opportunity for those who need a little more time. Remember, check those assignment sheets that we fill in every day.
Tests
In social studies, we have four CRTs this year. There are the weekly spelling tests in addition to mini tests over anthology stories and the six theme tests. We have completed one test in math over three chapters and we're soon to take a test over chapter four, Multiplication and Division facts. I almost forgot our state writing test in February which is on a personal narrative prompt. There are also CRTs in May. So much!
Special Projects
Students are always encouraged to make connections to topics in the classroom. For example, a student might want to look into what life was really like on the Oregon Trail in the late 1800s. Another topic which also fits in with this is the general topic of journeys which could involve writing a story. Make use of the library at home or at school in addition to the computer. Just make sure the required work is completed first.
Special Events or Important Dates
