| Rubellite Press News - June 18, 2008 Between July 30 until September 3, 2008 will be be unavailable to process orders. | Rubellite Press is fully operational again after almost 3 years of rebuilding after Katrina. With some finish work to be done, we can at least say we now have a permanent home for Rubellite Press, with new equipment ready to roll. We suffered many losses from the hurricane, but we are finally mending, and we appreciate your patience, and the support of our many customers and friends.
Hamlin Books - The biggest loss Rubellite Press incurred was to our stock of finished books. We want to inform everyone that two items in our catalog are now only available in limited quantity. The bulk of our stock of both reproductions of A. C. Hamlin's books, The Tourmaline, and The History of Mount Mica, were totally lost in the flooding of New Orleans. Initially we produced 1000 copies of each book, but as of now, including those which have been sold, less than 100 of each will survive. Ironically, this disaster makes our reproductions rarer than the original copies of Hamlin's volumes. This was a terrible blow to us, since we took such great pains to make sure the reproductions were exacting, producing volumes we knew would outlast even Hamlin's original books, so you could be proud to own them and place these wonderful books in your library. Sadly, we could not have foreseen Katrina.
The good news is - We do have a very small supply of both Hamlin books, 20-30 each, which were not in New Orleans at the time. If you were planning on purchasing either copy or the set someday, we would suggest you order quickly. As of now, we do not plan on reprinting new copies, as even the plates for the books were destroyed.
The Remainder of Our Catalog - Fortunately, the remainder of our stock items were nowhere near the flooding, and new supplies have just arrived. We have even printed new copies of Pegmatology in order to have enough in stock for this reopening of business.
Our Apology - If we have made any mistakes in pre-Katrina orders, or in orders post-Katrina, please contact us so we may remedy the situation. Pre-Katrina, all the US mail was lost, so we have no idea if you made an order. Post-Katrina, we are not confidant that all of our mail got through either. We value our customers, so please contact us for any problem - or click on my name.
