![]() | Optional Equipment For Field Trips The barest minimum Mineral Collecting equipment you probably should bring is a crack hammer (2-3 pounder), one chisel to match hammer and some kind of probe (i.e. ice pick, screwdriver, etc.). Unless you are intending to take samples, a geologist's hammer is not much use for collecting. Be aware that June weather can be very variable. Expect hot days and cool nights. It can also be cold and rainy. It is best to be prepared for whatever nature might give us! Rain Gear Warm, Light Weight Jacket/Sweater Hat, with a brim Mineral Collecting tools - hand tools only, no mechanized equipment. Day Pack or pail for tools - we do have some walking to do. Sturdy Boots & Long Socks for field work Bug Repellant and/or head net Field First Aid kit (if you have one) Camera (images of quarries visited for personal use only- not for publication) Note: The Field Trip Guides will be carrying a 10 gallon container of drinking water and first aid supplies. They will also have a car cell phone for emergencies. |
