During the seven day Workshop, we may be setting aside an afternoon for a tour of the mineral museums in the area, especially if it is raining. There are three museums at local Mineral Shops, displaying some of the best minerals the Maine pegmatites have produced. Many of these specimens are of historical value also. Additionally, there is a famous collection at the Norway Historical Society and one at Poland Springs Preservation Park. Depending upon accessibility at each museum, we will visit as many as we can during the afternoon.
Atall of the museums, you are free to photograph the displays, so bring your cameras along.

Museums in the Area

1. Norway Historical Society - The George R. Howe Collection
2. Perham's Of West Paris - a retail Mineral & Jewelry Store with a mineral Museum of specimens collected by Stanley & Hazel Perham and their children, Jane and Frank Perham. Collected over the last 80 years, the museum is probably the best in Maine!
3. Mount Mica Rarities - Retail Division of the Plumbago Mining Corporation, the store has many specimens from Mount Mica and the Dunton Quarry, with jewelry created by the owner, Phil McCrillis.
