The Pegmatite Mines Known As Palermo
by Robert W. Whitmore, Robert C. Lawrence, Jr.
and featuring the mineral illustrations of: Frederick C. Wilda.

If you are fascinated with the phosphate and gemstone minerals found in pegmatites, love fabulous mineral art work, are intrigued with the mineral mining history of the United States, then this book is for you. A labor of love by the author Robert Whitmore and his friends, this book concerns the famous Palermo Mine in North Groton, New Hampshire - its history of over 125 years, the minerals recovered from this pegmatite, with a unique and artistic method of present this information.

The images of the phosphate minerals recovered at the Palermo are not your typical pictures - micro-photographs which are difficult to view. Fred Wilda, the renowned mineral artist, has painstakingly produced paintings of all of the minerals presented in this book, allowing the viewer a realistic and accurate representation of the minerals found at this mine.

First Edition, Hard cover, with dust jacket. Text, color, black & white images, and mineral art work, 213 pages plus maps, 8 ¾ x 11 ¼.

Mineral News
by Excalibur Mineral Corp.
Copies or subscriptions available for this Newsletter.
Mineral News was founded over twenty years ago by Lanny Ream. Today the Newsletter is produced by Excalibur Mineral Corp. Over the years, it has developed a following of avid mineral collectors seeking timely information about new finds and other items of interest to the collector community.

The monthly newsletter has expanded to sixteen pages a month, revitalized its look by improving paper and print quality, and it has added significant features such as frequent book reviews, photographs to supplement new mineral descriptions and a greater focus of articles directed to descriptive mineralogy.

Articles are submitted by the collector and scientific communities, and mineral enthusiasts are encouraged to share their knowledge and discoveries with the collector community at large. Mineral News has no paid authors, and all items published are contributed by their respective authors. All articles are unpublished, original material, and authors retain copyright to their material.

Rocks & Minerals
Subscriptions and back issues are available for this Magazine.
"Amateurs as well as professional scientists delight in and pore over Rocks & Minerals, which has published articles on mineralogy, geology, and paleontology since 1926. Regular departments explore such topics as minerals for the collector, microminerals, and current geologic events. Detailed lists of collecting opportunities in specific localities appear periodically, as do special theme issues. Spectacular color photographs appear throughout each issue. Rocks & Minerals works with the Mineralogical Society of America to promote cooperation between collectors and professional mineralogists."Rock's & Minerals

A most useful and informative bi-monthly magazine and well worth the cost. A step up from the hobbyist magazines, still it is not so technical that the beginner cannot comprehend, nor the professional becomes bored. Articles are detailed, well written and cover all geologic areas. Their special theme issues are considered collector volumes and all is accomplished with beautiful photography - on the cover, in the articles and even the ads. You will look forward to every single issues.
