Margaret Joyce (formerly Margaret Ogan)
is a native Oregonian and has been a student of art in various
forms since her Newport High School days. Taking classes and exploring
expression through paint, weaving, pottery, wood cuts, stain glass
and sculpture until she discovered the medium of color pencil
in the 1980's. Color pencil has been her medium of choice ever
since.Eclectic and varied interests are reflected in the diverse
subject matter from animals, portraits of family, landscapes and
spiritual visions pieces.
For many years Margaret was a member of
the CPSA, Color Pencil Society of America and had the opportunity
to study with Jan Rimmerman for many years and also, Bet Borgenson,
Michael Pease and Ann Kullberg.
Her works have been exhibited in the Color Pencil Society's Rose
Show Exhibition and the Lake Oswego's Festival of the Arts. Twice
she has been juried into International Color Pencil Shows and
her work appears in the books: Best of Color Pencil 2 and Best
of Color Pencil 4. Many of her pieces are in private collections
in the U.S. and abroad.
Margaret's art has been used in book covers,
greeting cards and children's books. She and her husband, Raphael,
have been collaborating on murals, and trade show displays. Having
just completed and moved into a large new studio space they are
now taking on students and putting together workshops.
Margaret’s interest in the spiritual has led her to studies
in energetic healing arts particularly Reiki and the use of sound
as a healing form. For several years, she studied with a Native
American sound healer. In 1997 she began studies with a Cherokee
elder, learning to work with traditional Cherokee medicines. Eventually
her knowledge of healing, Reiki, sound and crystals evolved into
a healing modality utilizing a combination of these skills.
She now teaches classes in energy healing, facilitates transitional
ceremonies and meditational sound events and does private healing
sessions as well.
Lately Margaret has been working with fused
glass and creating her very popular Goddess Promise Eggs which
tie into both her art and spiritual talents. Click EGGS
