Rabbi Block’s activities are diversified and divergent; a common theme runs through all of his activities. He approaches his rabbinate as a teacher and facilitator. He is the spiritual leader of two congregations; one in Centreville Virginia and the other in Bel Air Maryland. He is an addictions/substance abuse Chaplain for the Veterans Administration Maryland Health Care system. Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry University of Maryland School of Medicine Member of Institutional Review Board of the University of Maryland. The IRB reviews scientific studies involving human subjects. The IRB protects subjects’ safety and reviews ethical issues. He is Chaplain for the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company He serves The Maryland State Firemen’s Association as a Chaplain. Rabbi Block is a Progressive Rabbi serving the needs of those who do not have an affiliation with a religious institution. He is the Co facilitator of a cancer support group.
