quantum•pork?
quantum•pork was started in December of 2005 as the results of many in depth conversations about the first book of the Bible, Genesis. Dennis and Jeff would meet weekly in 2002 to have breakfast, read and study a new chapter of Genesis. More often that not, the post study discussion turned to cosmology and physics. A joke began that our fellowship depended on philosophy, physics and pork products. That is where the name quantum•pork had its origins.

quantum = a share or portion • pork = to "pig out"; to stuff oneself

Our nucleus represents the region of logic where theology (red), philosophy (green), and cosmology (blue) overlap. Creating a forum of symbiotic relationships is paramount because science adds depth to theology and philosophy. Each study must validate each other to become the complete truth. We believe that discounting any part of the whole is insulting to the professionals that work hard to give us knowledge. In that spirit of respect, quantum•pork is about discussion and inquiry, though we try to stop short of naively or arrogantly offering "proof" of anything. (You might have a better chance of proving, "If two lines are drawn which intersect a third in such a way that the sum of the inner angles on one side is less than two right angles, then the two lines inevitably must intersect each other on that side if extended far enough.")

If someday a brilliant mind were to write the 'theory of everything', that theory MUST include ALL possibilities. To paraphrase: Christianity, the second law of thermodynamics, Darwinian evolution mechanisms, Occam's razor and Schrödinger's cat are all complementary ideas, convictions and principles which lead to a better understanding of human life and the order of the cosmos.

The mission of quantum•pork is to explore, discuss and share every aspect of "GOD's Idea" for mankind. Who, what, when, where and why, no stone will go unturned. We are not experts (except Doug and Evan) but we are possessed with a desire to know more and share what we do know. This web site is a forum for sharing our interests and thoughts in hopes that it would inspire in an entertaining fashion. The papers are intended to make you think and at times laugh. The humor is not intended to show disrespect to God's word or His love. It only represents our way of making life a little more fun.

Our knowledge differences, unique personalities and non confrontational style lead to stimulating dialogs during each meeting. Currently our meetings are held in Northern Illinois, bimonthly. At each meeting, we give out a book recommended by a member that has a quantum•pork interest. If you would like to start your own atom, please contact quantum•pork via email.

We encourage your opinions and feedback. Enjoy!    Let me know when quantum•pork has new content.

3/08 EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed Ben Stein (Premise Media Corporation ©2008)
Chance had its Chance
Ex nihilo nihil fit

There are some very intelligent individuals in the world that want everyone to believe that "Nothing + Time and Chance = Everything", and if we don't, they call us stupid and uninformed.

I may be wrong (I've never published a peer reviewed science paper) but even if we were to start with "Something + Time and Chance = Everything", it still conflicts with the second law of thermodynamics. The second law of thermodynamics is an expression of the universal law of increasing entropy, stating that the entropy of an isolated system which is not in equilibrium will tend to increase over time. If I were make an attempt to correct this expression, my best guess would be "Nothing + Time and Chance = Nothing" (of course these intelligent individuals chose the plus sign because they know 0y = 0).

It has always been my understanding for anything to happen, the event requires a cause. Well I should just submit to being called stupid and uninformed because I believe that if you take "Nothing - Cause x Infinite Time x High Probability" the answer will always equal Nothing.

Last night I felt privileged as I attended a pre-screening of a documentary that is filled with many intelligent individuals. The movie is EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed by Ben Stein due to be released April 18, 2008 only in theaters.

On the surface many viewers may leave thinking EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed seems to merely pit Intelligent Design against Neo-Darwinism but the movie is so much more. Its main focus is on the censorship that Neo-Darwinists impose on academia and science by discrediting or eliminating anyone that believes a designer may have been involved in the creation of complex physical and biological systems. Mr. Stein travels the world interviewing both sides of the debate, then edits them together with movie clips and music to create a very entertaining film. The film will make you laugh, cry and shock many viewers with the comments by the so-called experts of the Neo-Darwinism / Anti Religion science machine.

Richard Dawkins, author of The God Delusion and the Selfish Gene is allowed to talk at length without being edited, therefore viewers can determine for themselves precisely what his views are. In recent years, Mr. Dawkins seems to have backed away from his so-called science exploration and appears to be trying to take on God single handedly. When asked his opinion of the origin of life, Mr. Dawkins replied that nobody knows for sure, but suggested that perhaps we are biological seed from another planet of technologically advanced life-forms. Not exactly my view, but that is ID. Perhaps he may be discredited by his peers for his view?

I feel the movie does a very good job of exploring the cause and effects that Neo-Darwinism has not only on science but also on society. There will be some that will try to discredit this film, but in my opinion, it gives the Neo-Darwinism / Anti Religion movement exposure to many that may not be aware of what is happening in science today. (On a side note: I read last week that these same individuals are claiming they were tricked because they were unaware that Mr. Steins' movie was for the existence of a Loving Creator. I must ask myself, are they claiming foul because they would have given different answers?)

Mr. Stein asked throughout the film, "what are they afraid of?" and "there must be more to the story" when referring to the way that Big Science treat those that believe there must be a free exchange of ideas. That includes ID! Scientists should never fear nor should they be steered away from following the facts where the facts lead them.

The film ends as Mr. Stein wraps up his thoughts while walking through Charles Darwin's home and with a visit to his grave in Westminster Abby. Mr. Stein states that he did his part by making the movie and challenges viewers to take the ball and run with it. I wonder if Charles Darwin would be proud of what On The Origin of Species has done to the field of science, or if we ever opened his grave, would we find him face down.

I give this movie five up quarks out of five and is a MUST SEE film for all quantumpork.com readers.
